Finishing Well

Experience and the right equipment can make the difference between finishing and not finishing the race. In conditions that can reach as low as minus 40, hypothermia is a serious threat, particularly as competitors will be exhausted and no longer generating heat through exertion. It is essential that competitors are experienced in the environment and come properly prepared. You should be well versed in survival techniques. Those with no experience of these sort of conditions are advised to attend a training course.

Coping with sleep deprivation, hunger and cold will become both a mental as well as a physical battle. Be ready to deal with any problems you have on both levels.
