Race Structure

The Yukon Arctic Ultra is a self-sufficiency race open to individuals and teams. The race is non-stop over a pre-selected distance, either marathon, 100 miles 300 miles or 470 miles. Competitors have a choice of disciplines: cross-country skis, mountain bike or foot, for which snowshoes is permitted.
The choice of discipline must be made prior to the start and the same discipline must be used throughout. The race is non-stop with a time limit of 72 hours for the 100 mile race and 8 days for the 300 mile race. Competitors must carry or pull all their own provisions and kit during the race though there will be a possibility of a drop bag for the 300 mile and 470 mile section. Checkpoints will be spaced every 30 to 40 miles. Here competitors can receive shelter and respite from the brutal arctic conditions.

The race is being organised by "the great outdoors" a German company headed by Robert Pollhammer, himself a keen ultra runner and adventure racer. His enthusiasm for these sports are reflected in the high standard of race he provides.
