Race Structure
The Guadarun is a fully supported race, with the organizers providing everything from accommodation to food, drink and transportation between the stages. Each stage begins at dawn so that competitors can run in the coolest part of the day. At the end of the stage runners are transported by boat to the next island, where they spend the night in bivouacs before embarking on the next days stage. All meals are provided, and refreshments are available throughout each stage, generally every 5-7km, with the exception of three of the stages which are self-sufficient, and runners are responsible for carrying all the food and fluids they will need for that particular stage.
Runners are advised to bring their own sports drinks and energy bars etc. Drop bags can be distributed during the stages. Runners will need to run with a camelbak or drinking bottles. There is full medical support and a sports therapist is also available for massage at the end of each stage.
