Power Gel (from PowerBar)

Think this stuff gives an excellent energy boost for ultra runs and endurance events, and I find it much more pallatable that some of its competitors on the market both in the heat and in colder climates. Each individual sachet only weighs about 1.5 oz, and they are tiny enough to fit in the indside pocket of a pair of runing shorts.

The gels are available in caffeine-free, caffeinated and double-caffeinated (which are dynamite!!). Various flavours, I personally like the strawberry-banana flavour best. The same company make an enormous range of energy bars.
