Costa Rica run

The inaugural Costa Rica Run will be held in a couple of months' time in the small and friendly Central American country of Costa Rica. It is a six day, staged running race put on by the same organiser as the Raid des Trolls in Norway and the Raid Celtique in Ireland. In such a mountainous country you can guarantee plenty of elevation and so there is considerable climbing in some of the stages, including a race on the Turialba VolcanoBut of course there will be plenty of jungle running too. Costa Rica is a tropical country and on the Caribbean side of the island and in the highlands around the capital the humidity can be very high. Stages vary between 35 and 50 kilometres and there are food stations along the way to supply runners with water and race food. Most importantly though, there is also plenty of interaction with the local community in the evenings. Finally, if you have not had enough of this delightful country by the end of the race, there is the possibility of extending for a week on the beach.

The dates for the first Costa Rica Run are set for 19-30th August, with a couple of days to acclimatise to the hot and humid conditions at the start. For more details, check here
