The 2010 year of adventure racing has started with a flurry of events. From the volcanoes of Ecuador to the frozen forest of Poland and back to South America for the Xtremo in Argentina
“HuairaSinchi” (the wind’s strength in Kichwa) is on of the highest adventure races in the world. Even Quito - the site of the prize giving and the airport that all athletes arrived at is at 3200 metres. The race itself did not go much higher but certainly for most of the race it was above 3000 meters.

As this race finished athletes from 6 different nations were gathering on the other side of the world for the 9th Polish Winter Challenge. The weather played it's part this year and conditions were suitably cold for the event.
Returning to South American for the newest event in the Series 59 teams lined up to start the Xtremo 6000. If you read the report you will see that this race went over 4400m - another very high race course.
Luistana part ii XPD Portugal is scheduled for May followed by the XPD in Cairns, Australia. Explore Sweden - another monster 950km journey from the Atlantic 2 Baltic. In New England USA the Untamed New England event is showing the strongest interest they have seen with 17 teams already registered for the August event.
Two new events follow which both add different dimensions to the Series. In Costa Rica the web site highlights athletic interaction with wildlife, rivers, beaches and volcanoes, while half a world away the adiddas Terrex in England promises a spectacular journey through the Lake District.
August is a busy month in the northern hemisphere as everyone takes advantage of the great weather. The Raid in France this year is a shorter event of 50 hrs but will revert to the longer length again next year.
September - October: the showdown of the best of the best - Spain the Bimbache Extrem ARWC 2010.
The season will end with a return to the South American continent and the Ecomotion in Brazil.
