How Tough is it?
Extremely. In this terrain, any distance is a huge challenge. It is extremely hot, humid and competitors can expect to run over difficult ground - in places clambering over roots and wading through streams, swimming, clambering up and down muddy slopes - all of it carrying their own equipment. The jungle is a hard environment in which to race - the heat and humidity of the forest make it extremely demanding and surprisingly debilitating, so it is important that competitors look after themselves medically. Cuts can quickly become infected. People have been know to lose it in the jungle.
